On Saturday, February 13, the Historic Thousands on Jones Street (HKonJ) will take place in Raleigh. The Green Party, a member of the HKonJ coalition, has attended this event every year since it began in 2007. The largest single event in NC attended by progressives, tens of thousands of people will attend the rally from across the state. Please come to Raleigh and march with us under the Green Party banner. RSVP below.
This is a great event for gathering petition signatures to put the Green Party on the ballot. We can potentially get thousands of signatures. We will have tables set up at the beginning and end of the march, for people to use as stations for gathering signatures. In addition people can work the crowd at the beginning and end of the march.
Marchers will begin to congregate at Memorial Auditorium at 8:30 a.m. Triangle Greens will be there earlier to set up. One table will be set up in front of the auditorium. Please meet there to get clipboards and assignments and to talk prior to the march. Typically the weather is quite cold; dress warmly.
Please also RSVP to Jan Martell ([email protected]) so that we will know how many people will participate.
Transportation: If you can drive to Raleigh and take additional people with you from your area, please let us know so that we can inform people that a ride is available. HKonJ organizers have arranged buses from many areas. Costs and departure locations and times can be found at the HKonJ website at http://www.hkonj.com/.
Parking: There are several parking decks around the area. A map showing their locations, as well as the march route, can be found here.
See you at the march!
