Dear Green Party members, Jill Stein supporters, and allies:
Green Ballot Day is our fall ballot-access campaign on November 3, 2015. This is the day of municipal elections in many cities and towns across North Carolina. The NCGP is mobilizing 400 volunteers to turn out to polling places across the state this November 3 to collect several thousands of signatures in a single day.
Thanks to your response, we now have volunteers in fourteen counties from the coast to the mountains. But we need many more to make November 3 a successful event.
Setting up shop at polling stations on Election Day opens up a prime demographic for gathering signatures. This demographic will be committed and registered voters, they'll be mentally prepared to spend a moment on politics, and they'll be waiting in line. This is a state requirement we must meet in order to run Green Party candidates for office, including Jill Stein. (Many of you reading this message support Jill specifically.) So if you would like to be able to vote for Jill or any Green in 2016, it is imperative that we reach this ballot-access goal. If each person receiving this e-mail helps out, we will surpass our goal. If you have already volunteered, we will soon be sending an email with more details
The NCGP will provide volunteers with the addresses of the most well-attended city and town polling places in your county. Volunteers will need a clipboard and a few good pens, 10 copies of the ballot-access petition form, and some brochures to hand out to interested persons. The NCGP will provide the brochures. But we ask that volunteers bring their own clipboards and pens, as well as their own copies of the ballot-access petition. The NCGP will provide you with tips and instructions for obtaining signatures. More details will be provided to volunteers in the coming weeks.
To volunteer, please reply to this e-mail with your name, e-mail, phone, and address, and our organizer in the Triangle area—Michael Trudeau—will get back to you. Michael ([email protected]) can answer any questions you might have. We also encourage you to connect with us on Facebook at the NCGP group: www.facebook.com/groups/ncgreenparty/.
Please save the date November 3, a Tuesday, in your calendars. The NCGP is asking volunteers to plan ahead to commit to taking at least 3 hours out of your day November 3 to do this. We are also asking each volunteer to please tap a friend, colleague, ally, or family member to come along and help, ideally doubling our numbers.
Thank you for helping the NCGP to gain ballot access in 2016!
